"If you want someone to care for your baby that will speak English and shoot you straight no matter what is currently politically correct go see Dr. Snyder! The facility is always clean and The staff is super friendly, helpful and professional. They have a very cool children’s area where my baby loves to look at the fish tank. My baby absolutely loves to see dr. Snyder for check-ups. Snyder takes time to plays with my baby for a minute before each exam and sincerely ask how our family is doing, what the baby fills his days with and just listens. He is very gentle and slow with the exam, not rushing to get done. He looks for a cause/solution to every little health concern the parents have until there is a firm answer. He doesn’t just guess the cause and throw the kitchen sink of antibiotics at the kid. He is very informative and empowers parents to be able to take control of their child’s health at home whenever possible. It’s his goal to not see your kid unless it’s a routine check-up, but if you need help he will go to great lengths to get it for you. Dr. Snyder is the first Dr that respected my parental decision to not vaccinate my baby without treating me like a terrible person and trying to sway my decision. I plan to take my present and future babies to him until either he retires or my babies grow up into healthy adults." ~Noel P.

"We started seeing Dr. Snyders, as well as other providers in the office, about 2 years ago when my medically complex child wasn't getting the proper care he needed at a different facility. Dr. Snyders truly cares about his patients and always takes the time to talk about concerns. I have been very pleased with the doctors and nurses here and am truly thankful for their care!"

As always, we are so very thankful for our dear patients, their families, our amazing staff, providers, and our gracious community for loving and supporting us since opening our doors in 2007. You truly put the "family" in Prairie Family Medicine!

PLEASE SHARE TO GET THE WORD OUT!
To all of our loyal patients and community members:
Prairie Family Medicine completes full background checks prior to hiring any individual, without exception. Despite our thoroughness, the office completed a background check based on the information that was provided to us by this individual and it came back clean. This individual has a long criminal history, including identity theft. The completed background check DID NOT alert us to her true identity and we were fully unaware of what she was capable of doing.
Currently, a letter is being sent out to every individual whose financial information may have been compromised during her short employment. Prairie Family Medicine played absolutely no part in this individual's fraudulent behavior and devious schemes. We were just simply one of this individual's many victims and are left to deal with her collateral damage. Our office staff actually discovered her true identity due to inconsistencies in her stories and alerted the police immediately. At that time, not even the authorities had a reason to apprehend her. After speaking to law enforcement and ensuring they had no reason to intervene, our administrators informed her that her true identity had been discovered and immediately dismissed her from her employment at Prairie Family Medicine.
Due to the circumstances surrounding this case, we could not comment publicly about this story, as we needed to cooperate fully with the KCSD investigation. Now that this person's criminal history is public record, we feel it is important to remind our patients and community that we have worked diligently to protect our patients and our close-knit community from this individual and anyone else targeting and taking advantage of kind and trusting individuals. This person's behavior goes against everything we stand for. Since opening our doors, we have had amazing staff and providers who truly care about every single person who enters our doors. That has not changed. We will continue to provide the Inland Northwest with amazing patient care. We need to remember that though there are some very dishonest people in the world, there are more who bring happiness and light into it.

Before moving here I did a lot of research and looked for feedback on the best primary office in the area for my son. Prairie came highly recommended, and I felt it looked like the most promising fit. I am so thankful that we chose PFM! Both Dr. Snyders & Peter Gourley have been amazing for my HFA son. They are compassionate, warm, very knowledgeable, and extremely dedicated providers. It is so wonderful to feel so supported, and know he is getting the best of care. ~L.A.

There are some medical providers who clock out after a long day and leave their work behind. Then, there are providers like Dr. Brian Snyders who leaves after a long day and continues to think and care about his patients, even after locking the practice doors and returning home. He goes home thinking about his patients and how he can assist them in becoming healthier, happier, and find them the support they need to thrive. He is known for going over and beyond the call of duty, simply because he has a huge heart and because he's great at listening to those quiet promptings to serve others. Yesterday was no different. Dr. Snyders learned of a patient who recently had a stroke and was in the hospital for an extended period of time, recovering. He was due to come home but didn't have a way to get in and out of the home due to stairs. Dr. Snyders was inspired to surprise the family by building them a custom ramp, to make returning home just a little easier and to let them know he cared. He completed it just yesterday. Dr. S will probably be a bit embarrassed by this post, as he doesn't need or expect recognition for the love and service he offers to our community, but we felt it was the perfect way to thank him for being an amazing human and hopefully remind our loyal patients that Prairie Family is truly dedicated to doing everything possible to make your lives happier and healthier, even after the workday is done.

"I have always had great interactions and great experiences with everyone at Prairie Family Medicine. Every staff member is always so kind and welcoming. I would like to give a personal shout out to Becky though. She is a rockstar and went above and beyond to keep me comfortable and answer all my questions. I work in the veterinary medical field and I know technicians, assistants and nurses don’t always get the recognition they deserve, but girl I am calling you out! Keep doing what you do and being an amazing nurse to your patients! It is so appreciated." -Megan H.

To the families of Prairie Family Medicine,
Recently, several cases of measles were confirmed in neighboring counties, with pertussis confirmed in Kootenai County. These diseases can cause serious illness and may be life-threatening for some.
A list of common symptoms associated with the emerging diseases is listed below for your reference. Early detection and treatment are key components in successfully managing communicable disease outbreaks.
As part of our commitment to provide you with quality care, our staff has been specially trained in the management of these diseases and are prepared to care for you and your family should concern or symptoms arise.
If you or a family member suspect exposure to, or experience symptoms of a communicable disease, please call our office to schedule an appointment or speak to a nurse. It is important to relay known exposures and a complete list of symptoms when calling. Existing patients may choose to utilize our confidential text line to access a nurse. Simply text your inquiry to 208.337.7547. A nurse will respond to you as soon as possible.
Same day appointments are available. Patients with known exposure and highly suspect symptoms should call the office 15 minutes prior to arriving. This will allow trained staff to immediately escort you to a comfortable exam room, away from the general waiting room population.
When arriving to the office for an appointment, help reduce the likelihood of exposing others by applying a complimentary facemask immediately upon arrival to the lobby. Facemasks are located at the check-in desk and clearly labeled.
Pertussis (Whooping Cough) Symptoms:
· Runny nose, occasional cough and low-grade temperature for 1-2 weeks.
· Incubation of pertussis (time between exposure and onset of symptoms) most commonly ranges from 7-10 days but can range from 4-21 days.
· Contagious period (time during which the disease may transmit to others) generally begins at the onset of runny nose and proceeds until 5 days into antibiotic treatment.
· Runny nose, cough, red eyes and fever for 3-4 days. A blotchy red skin rash will present on the face and spread throughout the body over the course of 3-4 days. You may notice white specks in the lining of the mouth (known as Koplik’s spots).
· Incubation period ranges from 7 to 21 days.
· Contagious period runs 4 days prior and after the rash appears.

Memorial Day is usually filled with family gatherings, camping, and great store sales, but most importantly, it is a day to remember our brave men and woman who have fought bravely for our country and paid the ultimate price.
Today, we thank our brave military and send our love to the brave people who lost their lives fighting for our freedom.

"This clinic has been a Godsend! I can't say enough about the facility and all who inhabit it. I have had wonderful experiences both for myself and for my son. I recommend them to anyone for everything. It's practically a one-stop shop. From mental health to family practitioners." ~Lesa A.

"Just thinking about my son's current situation and our family doctor (Duncan) and Prairie Fam Med. and ya know..I'm just so grateful they go through the lengths they do. They don't just observe you and ask a bunch of questions. The fact that ya bring your kid (or even yourself) in sick and they really wanna know to an exact science what is going on and take the tests necessary (though miserable at times) is beyond awesome. The lengths they go through is never too much (even if you think ah it's just a cold) just to be able to be as sure as possible we all know what's going on and what needs to be done after. It's Beyond appreciated. I never go home feeling like they missed something. I never go
home unsure and still worrying. I really feel like I can
trust what they do, their results, their care, and their guidance.
That's a HUGE deal as a patient and as a mother to little patients.
So grateful for Prairie Family Medicine." ~Kristie S.
